Our Ewes We’ve worked hard to build a ewe flock that encompasses all the aspects we love about the Icelandic breed. We have a wide range of colors, patterns, and bloodlines. We have ewes chosen for their exceptional meat conformation; ewes with rich, silky-soft fleeces; ewes that are excellent milkers; leader ewes; ewes with terrific heat and parasite resistance. We expanded our flock size again this year. Not only did we keep ten of our own spring ewe lambs—incorporating the results of some of our best breedings back into the flock, so that we can continue improving—we also added nine superb ewes from our friends at Small Meadow Farm, including ewes with exceptional heat/parasite resistance as well as two natural quads that we hope will bring the Thoka gene for high prolificacy into our flock. Together with our magnificent rams, this fine flock of ewes will produce lambs that accentuate and combine all of the breed’s best qualities. |
