Our Rams

Our boys did an excellent job this spring, providing us with a really wonderful selection of lambs.

I’m so pleased, in fact, that I’m not putting any of the adult rams on the sales list this year, but will keep them for another season.

Next year, however, many of them will go on the sales list to make room for new genetics, so if any of these boys catch your eye, stay tuned!

I’m also keeping four of this year’s ram lambs. I usually only keep one or two, but it was just too hard to narrow down my choices from so many excellent lambs, so all four youngsters will stay.

We’re also expecting to add at least one more ram lamb from an outside farm, to bring in some new genetics. He’ll be arriving later this summer or fall.

Nicholai JAGER RAM M5H 641N -[CAN]572385-: Horned moorit solid twin ram. Born 2003. 12.5% AI bloodlines (Heli), 50% Solee. Carries spotting. He is the last son of Solee, Jager Farm’s all-time best maternal line—just look at her lambing record! Solee was one of the first Icelandic sheep ever to be imported into the U.S. Broad, square conformation; massive horns; and a calm, docile temperament. Very heat tolerant and worm-resistant, too. He has only needed worming once in 4 years!

Wessex INGL RAM M3H 028W: Horned moorit badger twin ram. Born April 5, 2009. 5 lbs., 11 oz. at birth. May carry spotting. 40.63% AI bloodlines (Eldar, Kostur, Heli). This was our most parasite resistant lamb of 2009. He’s stoutly built and has a fabulous, thick, fine-textured fleece. He brings in some nice genetic diversity from the Eldar line, which is unrelated to most other AI bloodlines. A very tame, friendly ram.

Ukraine INGL RAM M5H 033U: Horned moorit solid twin ram. Born 2008. 50% AI blood (Blaevar, Heli, Kani, Rektor, Thettir), 25% Solee. Probably carries spotting. Very broad, muscular build. Excellent chest, shoulders, and rump. Sire has fantastic heat/parasite resistance. Dam has a phenomenal meat build—the best in my flock. Like both his parents, this ram is exceptionally calm, tame, and friendly.

William INGL RAM 01H 013W: Horned white triplet ram. Born March 31, 2009. 8 lbs. 5 oz. at birth. Carries solid. 75% AI bloodlines (Heli, Laekur, Langidalur, Moli, Muli). This is one of the finest lambs we’ve ever produced. He’s broad, big boned, fleecy, and has a tremendous horn spread. Sire has excellent meat build and soft, rich fleece. Dam has a large build, thick fleece, tremendous horn width, and superb heat/parasite resistance.

Wotan MBG RAM B5SH 19W: Horned black solid spotted twin ram. Born April 11, 2009. 5 lbs. Carries moorit. 33% AI bloodlines (Flotti, Mjaldur, Morro, Rektor). This is a stout, well-built lamb with a lovely fleece. If he’s anything like his mom, he should be massively built when he grows up. We’re very pleased to add Mjaldursson’s and Puffin’s awesome bloodlines for meat build to our flock.
