Our Rams

We have quite a few new boys showing up on this page this fall. It’s time to turn over several members of the ram flock to make room for new bloodlines.

The departing rams have served us well and have left us with some lovely offspring in our flock. Now we’re excited to see our what our new flock sires will add. We have two new rams from outside flocks, and I must say, I think they’re going to be great.

We’re also keeping a few promising youngsters from our spring lamb crop, with the intention using them for breeding as well.

One ram you WON’T see leaving here is our beloved Nicholai, with his exceptional heat and parasite resistance and wonderful temperament. He is still our favorite boy, and will stay here with us for life.

Nicholai JAGER RAM M5H 641N -[CAN]572385-: Horned moorit solid twin ram. Born 2003. 12.5% AI bloodlines (Heli), 50% Solee. Carries spotting. He is the last son of Solee, Jager Farm’s all-time best maternal line—just look at her lambing record! Solee was one of the first Icelandic sheep ever to be imported into the U.S. Broad, square conformation; massive horns; and a calm, docile temperament. Very heat tolerant and worm-resistant, too. He has only needed worming once in 4 years!

Windsor INGL RAM M5H 001W: Horned moorit solid single ram. May carry spotting. Born March 8, 2009. 31.25% AI bloodlines (Bambi, Flotti, Morro). 25% Midas. This is a bold, confident, friendly fellow. By far our largest, fastest growing lamb ever: At 2 months old, he already weighed 74 lbs. By 4 months old, he was as big as an adult sheep! In addition to tremendous size and fast growth, he also has nice length of back, gorgeous abundant fleece, and is from a line that tends to breed earlier in the season, which is a trait I appreciate.

This is our most parasite resistant lamb of the year. He’s stoutly built and is already showing a thick, fine-textured fleece. His sire has superb fleece and exceptional heat/parasite resistance. His dam is a large ewe with good parasite resistance, who brings in some nice genetic diversity from the Eldar line, which is unrelated to most other AI bloodlines.
