 Bargain Fleeces

Icelandic sheep are sheared twice a year.  The Fall fleece usually yields the prime spinning fibers.  The Spring fleece is usually used for felting, quilting batts, or other craft purposes.

My “Bargain Fleeces” are ones that are not suitable as a prime spinning fleece, due to short fiber length, dirt or vegetable matter, or minor matting.  Some may be spinnable with work, but most are more suited for felting, quilting batts, or crafts.

My “Salvage Fleeces” are ones that are extremely dirty or contaminated, or severely matted.  These may not even be suitable for felting, but may be useable for some other craft purpose, such as stuffing pet beds.  They can also be used as a weed-suppressing, moisture-retaining mulch for landscaping or potted plants or as natural insulation for small sheds and chicken houses.  A few of the salvage fleeces have long enough locks that could be cut for use as doll hair.  I’ve priced them very low, so use your imagination!
