Bedroom Renovations
The house has three bedrooms upstairs. All the walls (and ceilings!) have all been done in badly fitted tongue-in-groove boards, painted strawberry ice cream pink. I call it the Barbie Dream Barn style of interior design.
On the bright side, each bedroom has its own fireplace, which we hope to bring back into working order eventually. And, while I hate the pink coloring and the ugly gaps where the boards don't fit together properly, I am rather fond of having walls made out of solid wood rather than sheet rock. Need to hang a shelf or a picture? No need to hunt for a stud. With solid wood walls, you can hang whatever you want, wherever you want it!
Other odd features in some of the bedrooms include old soap and toothbrush holders installed in the wall (though there’s no sink or running water upstairs), and a small hobbit-sized door leading through the back of one bedroom’s closet into the next bedroom. |
