Office Renovations
The little office was cramped and claustrophobic when we first saw it. The previous owner had the window nailed shut and the door that led to the pantry and kitchen boarded over. The very first home improvement I did when I moved in was to un-board the door so I could walk freely throughout the rooms.
The room clearly used to be a porch, and still had water-damaged porch-type flooring, which had to be replaced. We also widened the narrow doorway, took off the flimsy storm door, and replaced the solid wooden door with a windowed one, to let in a little desperately needed light.
For all of its initial flaws, the room had one big advantage. It was the perfect size and shape to hold the large oak desk Ken and I were moving from our previous place. |
