Our Rams

I’m sad to announce that our beloved old Nicholai, patriarch of our flock, passed away this spring. I’m so grateful for the years he was with us and for the many wonderful sons and daughters he gave us to carry on his genes. He was one in a million!

In addition to Scimitar, Xaq, and our other gorgeous rams listed below, I plan to add several new outside rams this fall to continue improving our flock and diversifying our bloodlines. I have a few promising young prospects under consideration right now, and will finalize my choices later in the summer. I look forward to the qualities these new boys will add to the flock.

From this year’s lamb crop I have kept one last Nicholai son. I also have my eye on a few other of our farm-bred ram lambs, and later this summer I may decide to keep another one or two, unless someone else buys them first.

Together with our beautiful ewes, these rams are the future of our flock. With such an abundance of excellent ram choices available to me this year, I’m very excited to see what our future lamb crops will be.

Ukraine INGL RAM M5H 033U: Horned moorit solid twin ram. Born 2008. 50% AI blood (Blaevar, Heli, Kani, Rektor, Thettir), 25% Solee. Probably carries spotting. Very broad, muscular build. Excellent chest, shoulders, and rump. Sire has fantastic heat/parasite resistance. Dam has a phenomenal meat build. Like both his parents, this ram is exceptionally calm, tame, and friendly.

Xenophon INGL RAM M2H 004X: Horned moorit gray twin ram. Born 3/31/10. Carries solid and possibly spotted. 8 lb. 12 oz. at birth. 37.5% AI bloodlines (Bambi, Blaevar, Bruni, Heli, Horvi, Stubbur). Also 25% Solee, 25% MacBeth, which has been a very good combination for me in the past. Excellent genetics for parasite resistance, size, horns, and milking/mothering on both sides. For 3 years I’ve been trying to produce a ram lamb who will be worthy to replace Nicholai. I have high hopes that this gorgeous boy is the one!

Fast growth, excellent build and fleece, wide horns, and good genetics for milking/mothering. Plus better-than-average parasite resistance and a confident, friendly personality.

Excellent genetics for size, build, heat tolerance, and parasite resistance on both sire’s and dam’s sides. He showed excellent parasite resistance during our hottest, most miserable summer ever. I’ve seen this boy grazing contentedly in the sun when the temperature was 106 degrees!
